Get Connected

In order for trading firms to obtain direct electronic access to CBOT products and pay reduced transaction fees on e-cbot transactions, they must:

  • confirm access to an existing CBOT membership (for example, branch offices or affiliate offices of current members) or obtain a CBOT membership, and;
  • establish a business relationship with a CBOT clearing member firm.

CBOT clearing member firms, non-clearing member firms and non-members that have the approval of their clearing firms, and service providers are all eligible to obtain access to e-cbot.

Firms who want to GET CONNECTED can connect via:

  1. A direct connection to e-cbot
  2. Connection to e-cbot via a service provider

Direct e-cbot Connection Options

  • A Standard Connection consists of two diverse T-1 lines, one router, one switch, and one gateway.
  • A Resilient Connection consists of two diverse T-1 lines, two routers, two switches (configured for hardware failure), and two gateways.

All equipment is owned and maintained by CBOT/LIFFE.  Firms who opt for a direct e-cbot connection must utilize a proprietary front-end that is subject to CBOT conformance testing or front end connectivity provided by an Independent Software Vendor (ISV).
